The Church of the Common Ground Golf Classic will be Monday, Oct. 4, at The Golfers’ Club at Fort McPherson, southwest of Atlanta.

“We’ve had a wonderful and dedicated group of people seeking to raise some much needed money for our ministry, and they wanted to sponsor a fund-raiser,” said the Rev. Robert Book, who founded the Church of the Common Ground in Atlanta’s downtown. “They learned I’m crazy about golf, so a golf tournament it is!”

Supporters have been meeting weekly since early spring to plan the event.   The tournament will have a scramble format and offer individual as well as team awards. The individual entry fee is $125, which covers green fees, golf cart and lunch.

Hole sponsorships can be purchased for $500 each, and the tournament planning group will be contacting parishes and individuals about sponsorships.

There are various ways to take part. “Folks unable to play may want to sponsor a hole or make a donation,” said Frank Allen, who chairs the event’s planning committee. “They can do that online or with a check through the mail.”
